Is Your Business Eligible for SBES?
SBES is designed for small and mid-sized Georgia Power commercial customers. Offices, retail stores, restaurants, churches, warehouses, and many other businesses may qualify.
Incentives are limited, first-come, first-served, and subject to program funding and Georgia Power approval. Full rules are in Georgia Power's SBES Terms & Conditions.

- Your building's 12-month peak demand is 249 kW or less (not sure? we'll help you check)
- You're replacing existing, working equipment (new construction and failed or missing fixtures don't qualify)
- The lighting operates at least 1,000 hours per year
- The upgrade reduces lighting wattage by at least 10%
- The equipment hasn't been upgraded through the program in the last 3 years

What is the Georgia Power SBES program?
Small Business Energy Savings (SBES) is a Georgia Power program that helps eligible small business customers upgrade to high-efficiency equipment such as LED lighting. It was previously called the Small Commercial Direct Install (SCDI) program.
How much of my lighting project does SBES cover?
Georgia Power's incentive can cover up to 70% of eligible project costs, up to $50,000 per building per year. The exact amount depends on the equipment being replaced and is set by Georgia Power.
Are the LED upgrades free?
Not entirely. Georgia Power pays its share of eligible costs, and you pay the remaining share plus applicable taxes and fees. Your DTL proposal shows both amounts before you commit to anything.
Who is eligible for SBES?
Georgia Power commercial customers in Georgia Power's service territory with a 12-month peak demand of 249 kW or less. The program covers replacement of existing, working equipment that runs at least 1,000 hours a year, and lighting upgrades must cut wattage by at least 10%. Incentives are first-come, first-served and depend on program funding and Georgia Power approval.
Is the facility assessment really free?
Yes. The assessment is no-cost and no-obligation. It tells you which of your fixtures are likely to qualify and what the upgrade would cost you after the incentive.
Who receives the incentive payment?
Georgia Power pays the incentive directly to the Participating Contractor (DTL) after the work is installed and all program requirements are met. You don't have to wait for a rebate check.
Does SBES require a Participating Contractor?
Yes. Georgia Power requires SBES equipment to be installed by a Participating Contractor registered with the program. DTL Energy Solutions is a registered Georgia Power SBES Participating Contractor, so we can take your project from assessment through installation and program paperwork.
Can I use SBES to replace burned-out or missing fixtures?
No. SBES applies only to replacing existing, working equipment. New construction and failed, non-working, or missing equipment aren't eligible.
Is DTL part of Georgia Power?
No. DTL Energy Solutions is an independent commercial lighting contractor participating in the SBES program as a registered Participating Contractor. Georgia Power runs the program, sets the rules, approves projects, and decides incentive amounts.
My business is in South Carolina. Does SBES apply?
No. SBES is only for Georgia Power customers. We also coordinate other utility rebate programs, so ask us about the options for your facility.
